Continuing Ed, New Sectors, & Micro-Retirement in 2025

2025 was my version of a “micro‑retirement” year of continuing ed. A deliberate pause from the traditional career arc to reset, consult, build skills, and re‑design next steps. What should the next decade of work look like?

Ironically, micro‑retirement is more than time off. It’s a structured career break to recharge, experiment, and learn. Increasingly, extended periods away when possible are happening among professionals who want sustainability, not burnout.

In my case that looked like:
